Presidential Prayer Team Requests for 12/11

Prayer Requests
~from the Presidential Prayer Team~

The Christmas season is in full swing and the sacrifices of those who serve our country in military service are heightened.  Pray for strength and comfort for these faithful servants, that they will be encouraged and blessed as they step up to defend our freedoms around the world.  Pray for children who miss their mother or father to be blessed by others who are in a position to encourage and love them during this season; pray for parents and others who long to see their son or daughter to be comforted by God and by the knowledge that their sacrifice is appreciated by grateful citizens.

Pray for President Bush as he welcomes to the White House President Elias Antonio Saca of El Salvador on 12/16 to discuss a broad variety topics, including the shared commitment to strengthening democracy and advancing economic development.

Pray for President and Mrs. Bush and their White House staff as they continue to host thousands of guests at dozens of gatherings for holiday celebrations of all kinds.  Pray for God’s presence and blessing on each one, that God will be honored in these events.

As news has come that President and Mrs. Bush have purchased a home in Dallas, TX, pray for them in the transition to private life—for God’s blessing and guidance, for friendships and support and for a rich and vibrant spiritual life that will sustain them in the coming years.  They will also spend time at their Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, TX.

Give thanks for the diligence of President Elect Obama and his team as they work on remaining transition concerns, cabinet appointments and the practical realities of forming a new administration.  Pray for God’s guidance, for insight and clarity, and for creativity and integrity in dealing with each issue and appointment.

Give thanks for the recent appointees to the leadership team of President Elect Obama, Secretary of Commerce Bill Richardson and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki.  Pray for them and each new appointee as they hire staff, meet with their predecessors and make plans to serve.  Pray for diligence, faithfulness and integrity to mark every part of the new administration.

Pray for wisdom for Illinois officials in the wake of Governor Rod Blagojevich’s arrest on corruption charges.  Blagojevich was to have appointed a new Illinois Senator to finish out the term of President Elect Barack Obama; officials hurried the arrest to prevent the possible “rush” appointment on Tuesday.  Pray for God’s help and intervention in this tragic situation; Blagojevich has been released on his own recognizance.

As the economic climate in America continues to worsen, pray for God’s grace and help in this season—for those hard hit to be helped, for helping agencies to meet the needs of those most challenged and for all Americans to reach out and help those in need. Pray for those who live on the margins of society to receive provision, love and blessing this Christmas.
